This park was created in the lands of Mister Gustavo Prochelle, it is the result of mixing native species with exotic ones adding to all of this an artificial lagoon. This park was created thanks to the immigrants from XIX that knew a lot about botanical.
The land was acquired by the Agricultural and Livestock Society (SAVAL in Spanish) founded on December the 17th 1944, by 1948 they had their first show. Since then, the park is a place of gathering and meeting for all Valdivians and tourists.
All though, the park is not all oaks and coihues it is also a place of rest for many horses who for some reason deserved to be buried in the park. We are talking about Big King, Nanay, Gitano and Lanín. So, if you walk towards the Cau Cau River next to the jumping field, built during the 40s by mr. Alberto Deppe and mr. Bruno Eisendecher, you can read the history of one of the horses.
